When I left a Puffy among the plants
I took it at dawn and left it on the terrace, between the monstera and the morning light. It wasn’t a big surprise, but it changed the morning. That’s how a day that ended in laughter and tea began.
Why I did it
My mother had spent weeks wrapped up in the move and I wanted to leave her something that wasn’t practical: a hug in the shape of a plush. I thought of a corner that was already hers — the terrace — and how she’d see it before she even opened the door.
Finding it among the leaves
I went out early and brought it wrapped with a strip of fabric that matched the leaves. I placed it sitting on the edge of a large pot, not inside, so it looked like it was watching over the plants.
There was a trace of morning light and the plush, in its neutral tee, looked like another guest in the garden.
Oh, how cute... it looks like it wants to see the plants.
How I prepared it
What I wanted was discretion: a cheerful pause in her morning, not something that complicated things. There was no drama, just simple care.
-
Choose I picked a Puffy with soft-toned clothes that wouldn’t clash with the plants.
-
Prepare I wrapped it with a strip of fabric and set it on a large pot, visible but secure.
-
Leave I went out early and left it before she came down for breakfast; I wanted her to find it calmly.
-
Share We ended up seated on the terrace, her with the plush on her lap, talking about small things.
It was a fine thread: no big words, no promises. Just a gesture to remind her that, even when everything is new and tiring, there are small corners that stay the same.

What lingered after
The Puffy stayed on the terrace for the first few days, beside the leaves. In the end it moved to the living room sofa, where it now has its own cushion. What stayed with me was the image of her laugh and an afternoon of tea we wouldn’t have had if a little bear hadn’t been in the middle.
